NEW ARTICLE: Is Tua Tagovailoa scheduled to play this week? Latest injury updates on Dolphins QB’s playoff status against Bills

1. Mike Williams

UPDATE (Jan. 15): Mike Williams (back) will miss Saturday’s wild-card matchup in Jacksonville but may play in the divisional round if the Chargers advance.

The Chargers’ decision to play their entire starting lineup in a meaningless game drew criticism this week.

Mike Williams was able to make it to the sideline on foot, but he had to be carted off the field and limped significantly from the locker room to the bus after the game.

His X-rays showed no signs of a fracture, so the doctors diagnosed him with back spasms. Assuming they are able to get the situation under control, he may be able to play this weekend against the Jaguars in the wild-card round.

2. Tua Tagovailoa

UPDATE (Jan. 15): The Dolphins plan to have Tagovailoa (concussion) start at quarterback again in 2023.

Due to his concussion protocol, Tagovailoa will not be able to play in Sunday’s wild-card matchup with the Bills. Regardless of the outcome on Sunday, Tagovailoa has already made his long-term decision regarding his playing career.

Tagovailoa hasn’t played football since suffering his second concussion of the season in late December, but according to Schefter, doctors are confident he can make a full recovery and return to the NFL.

Despite suffering his third significant concussion of the season, the Dolphins are reportedly hopeful that he will be able to play this Sunday against the Bills.

The Bills are on cloud nine after their thrilling victory over the Patriots, in which they scored on not one but two kickoff returns.

In spite of the fact that it would benefit Miami if Tua played, he still needs to be given the green light by the team doctor before he can do so. Even with a dislocated pinky, Teddy Bridgewater is probably still going to play unless he is told not to.

3. Raheem Mostert

UPDATE (Jan. 15): Mostert (thumb) will miss Sunday’s playoff game in Buffalo.

Another running back for the Miami Dolphins, Raheem Mostert, reportedly broke his thumb in Week 18.

He is scheduled to have surgery on Monday and is currently listed as “in doubt” for this Sunday’s game against the Bills.

Given the significance of Sunday’s game for Miami, it’s possible that Mike McDaniel won’t play due to the severity of his injury.
