This season, the Hornets have been one of the NBA’s most disappointing teams, though some of that can be attributed to injury issues.
After only one month of the season, the Hornets had lost 14 of their first 18 games, effectively eliminating them from playoff contention. They then won three of their next four games before going on a six-game losing streak.

LaMelo Ball (ankle) played 34 minutes against the Pistons on Wednesday, scoring 23 points (9-18 FG, 5-13 3Pt), dishing out 11 assists, and pulling down one rebound.

Despite head coach Steve Clifford’s statement that Ball would play “shorter stints” in his return from an 11-game absence due to an aggravation of the sprained left ankle that kept him out for the first 11 games of the season.
Ball was as efficient as ever, shooting from the field and committing only one turnover. Fantasy owners who placed him on injured reserve during his lengthy absence can now activate him.

Smith (ankle) will miss Friday’s game against the Hawks.
Smith has not played since Nov. 23 due to a sprained left ankle. It is unclear when he will be able to return.
