Since Bauer’s suspension ended on December 22, the LA Dodgers have until Friday to add him to their active roster. The National League team has yet to make a decision on his future.
Trevor Bauer might not be quite the outcast with the Los Angeles Dodgers
In July 2021, the Los Angeles Times reported that Dodgers players did not want Bauer back. However, only six of those players will be returning for the 2023 season.
The fact that the Dodgers have waited this long to make a decision suggests that they are seriously considering all options involving the pitcher, who is owed just over $22 million for the 2023 season.
The Los Angeles Times recently polled its readers to see if they wanted Bauer back on the Dodgers. There was a total of 19,193 responses. 51.2 percent of fans want Bauer to stay, while 48.8 percent want him to be released.
That is only a sample of fans who read newspapers, and it does not include the millions of other Dodgers fans around the world. However, the poll results demonstrate how divided one segment of the fanbase is over Bauer.
Bauer would be placed on waivers if the Dodgers released him. If a team claims Bauer, they must assume the money owed to him in 2023.
If he goes unclaimed through waivers, he becomes a free agent and is free to sign with another team.
The Dodgers could also activate Bauer, which would necessitate the release of someone from their 40-man roster. They might then try to trade Bauer.
