On Friday, the Hornets will face the Lakers in a cross-conference matchup at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California. The Hornets will face the Purple-and-Gold for the first time this season.
Anthony Davis and LeBron James’ latest injury status
The Los Angeles Lakers will miss Anthony Davis greatly (13-18; 12-18-1 ATS). Following a 119-117 win over the Washington Wizards at home, the Lakers have lost two straight road games, 130-104 at Phoenix and 134-120 at Sacramento. LeBron James sat out the Suns game but returned last Wednesday, scoring 31 points in a 14-point loss at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.
According to Ryan Ward of LakersNation.com, James is expected to miss this game due to left ankle soreness.
James has been bothered by ankle pain and has been unable to play both legs of the Lakers’ previous two back-to-back sets. Given that the game on Friday is not a back-to-back, James can be counted on to play and receive his usual workload. In his last two games without Anthony Davis (foot), James has averaged 32.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 10.0 assists.
Meanwhile, Russell Westbrook, Austin Reaves, and Juan Toscano-Anderson are all doubtful for the game.
After snapping an eight-game losing streak with a 125-119 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Monday, the Charlotte Hornets were defeated 126-105 by the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night.
Dennis Smith Jr. and Terry Rozier will miss Friday’s game against the Lakers due to injuries.
