The New York Knicks will try to prevent the Miami Heat from carving their name into NBA history when they play Game 6 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series on Friday night in Miami.
With its back against the wall, fifth-seeded New York won 112-103 on Wednesday to cut the best-of-seven series deficit to 3-2.
Miami was only the second No. 8 seed to reach the conference finals, and the first since the New York Knicks accomplished so in the spring of 1999.
Coach Tom Thibodeau was eager to credit Jalen Brunson after he stuffed the stat sheet for New York on Wednesday.
Brunson ended with 38 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists in 48 minutes of play.
Brunson told reporters before Wednesday’s game that there had been no discussion about his extended workload.
Brunson wasn’t alone in playing the complete 48 minutes, as fellow guard Quentin Grimes did as well.
