On Monday night, the Sacramento Kings will host the Golden State Warriors for game two of their best-of-seven first-round playoff series, hoping to light the lamp once again.
Game 1 was a 126-123 victory for the Kings and this second game will be played at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento at midnight EDT.
Latest news on Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and De’Aaron Fox
The Golden 1 Center was packed for the Kings’ first playoff game in 17 years. After storming back in the second half, the Kings’ 126-123 victory was aided by the raucous crowd.
After all was said and done, they lit the beam and took a 1-0 lead in the series. The game’s two biggest stars were De’Aaron Fox, who had 38 points, and Malik Monk, who came off the bench to score 32 points.
As the Kings took a 1-0 lead over the 2022 champions, Fox shone. He showed no signs of the ankle injury that kept him out for a week. Fox and the Kings are back on track after a clean injury report.
Domantas Sabonis, meanwhile, finished with 12 points (5-17 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-4 FT), 16 rebounds, two assists, and three steals in 35 minutes.
Sabonis struggled to put the ball in the hole against the Warriors, who were finally helped defensively by Andrew Wiggins.
Sabonis overcame his shooting woes to contribute to the win, and he now has seven double-doubles in his last ten games. During this series, he should have a significant advantage over the Warriors in the paint.
With a 44-38 record, the Warriors entered this series as the No. 6 seed in the West. On Saturday night, the Warriors led for the majority of the first half, but the Kings rallied in the fourth quarter, outscoring Golden State 71-62 in the final two frames to win.
Steph Curry, who had 30 points and was 6 of 14 from three-point range, attempted a game-tying three-pointer at the buzzer but missed, as the Kings won 126-123.
Curry’s incredible shooting ability has become a playoff staple, and Game 1 was no exception.
Curry recovered from a slow start and went on a tear in the second half, scoring 20 of his 30 points from distances that most players would not dare to try.
He was by far Golden State’s leading scorer, and he’ll be a very safe and chalky DFS option for as long as the Warriors exist.
Klay Thompson had 21 points and five three-pointers against the Kings, while Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins each had 17 points.
