Updates Injury Status Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jrue Holiday

The Milwaukee Bucks are hoping to get back on track when they host the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday after having their 16-game winning streak ended over the weekend.

On Tuesday night, the Bucks defeated the Magic 134-123 on the road. The 14-game winning streak that Milwaukee has against Orlando is the longest active streak in the NBA against a single opponent.

With Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jrue Holiday out, the Bucks were led by Brook Lopez’s 26 points. Jevon Carter and Khris Middleton each chipped in 24 points. In his first starting role since December 15, Middleton paced the team in assists with 11.

Giannis Antetokounmpo (illness) and Jrue Holiday (neck) are listed as probable for Milwaukee, while Wesley Matthews (hamstring) and recently acquired guard Goran Dragic (knee) are out for Thursday’s game.

After sitting out Tuesday’s win over the Magic due to right knee soreness and a non-COVID illness, Antetokounmpo is projected to make his return to action on Thursday.

Antetokounmpo has been a dominant force in the NBA over the last four games, averaging 30.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 6.8 assists, and 1.3 blocks in 31.8 minutes per game.

Meanwhile, Jrue Holiday (neck) is expected to play.

Holiday sat out on Tuesday due to neck soreness, joining Giannis Antetokounmpo (knee/illness) on the injured list. Both stars are expected to return to action on Thursday, relegating Jevon Carter and Bobby Portis to their usual bench roles.
