The Browns are looking for an unrealistic return for Kareem Hunt.

Following the Christian McCaffrey trade went down, Kareem Hunt is expected to be the best running back on the market.

Browns return to Kareem Hunt?

With a record of 2-5, the Cleveland Browns are on the outside looking in when it comes to playoff contention. While a number of teams have started with that record and made the playoffs, the Browns may be ready to part ways with one of their running backs.

While McCaffrey’s trade may have aided the Browns in their pursuit of Hunt, there are significant differences between the two. The contract contains the primary, at least for trade value. McCaffrey has several years remaining on his contract, and the Carolina Panthers took on a significant portion of the salary cap hit in the trade.

Hunt is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, which will reduce his trade value. According to a report, this hasn’t stopped Cleveland from demanding a large sum of money:

According to a league source, the Browns want a Christian McCaffrey-style haul. That’s excessive, but it appears to be where the Browns are.

Finally, PFT notes that a Browns victory on Monday Night Football could influence their willingness to trade Hunt. If Cleveland does part ways with their backup running back, the return is unlikely to excite fans.
