Raiders fans demand the firing of head coach Josh McDaniels following the team’s poor performance

As an NFL head coach, Josh McDaniels has never had a winning season. The Denver Broncos finished 8-8 in his first season as head coach in 2009. Denver went 3-9 in 2010 before firing McDaniels.

The Raiders were blown out 24-0 by the Saints at Caesars Superdome, dropping the team to 2-5 on the season, and things couldn’t have gone any worse for the team.

While the offense appeared disjointed, the defense performed equally poorly, allowing the Saints to total 367 yards and three touchdowns.

Quarterback Derek Carr had one of his worst starts of the season, completing 15 of 26 passes for 101 yards and one interception.

Davante Adams, the team’s star wide receiver, had one catch for three yards on five targets, while Mack Hollins led the team with seven catches for 64 yards on eight targets.

Josh McDaniels accepts responsibility for the Raiders’ 2-5 record following a 24-0 loss : “I’m Sorry.”

“If you’re going to point a finger, point it at me,” McDaniels told reporters.

“I have to do a much better job of getting ourselves ready to go – we’re better than that, I apologize to Raider Nation for that performance, and I own that. That’s my responsibility.”

“It starts with me, and we’re gonna work hard, and we’re gonna fix it.”

As Raiders fans’ patience wears thin, some have called for McDaniels’ firing following Sunday’s dreadful performance. While it’s unclear whether McDaniels is under fire, ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez reports that McDaniels and Raiders owner Mark Davis met for a “lengthy” time after the game.

McDaniels and the Raiders will have a chance to quickly turn things around, as their next three games will be against teams with losing records.

The Raiders will play the 2-6 Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, followed by games against the Indianapolis Colts (3-4-1) and the Denver Broncos (3-5).
