The Packers’ season appeared to be over after falling to 4-8 on the season after losing 40-33 at Philadelphia.

There were even calls to bench Aaron Rodgers for the remainder of the season in order to give the team a better look at backup Jordan Love.

At the time, Rodgers insisted that he would play as long as the Packers were mathematically eligible for the playoffs. The Packers are 8-8 and need a win over the Lions to reclaim their playoff spot.

The Packers earned this spot by defeating the Minnesota Vikings 41-17 last week. As the Packers’ defense shut down the high-powered Minnesota offense, Rodgers threw a touchdown and ran for another. Darnell Savage had a pick-six, and the Packers forced the Vikings to turn the ball over four times.

After losing six of their first seven games, the Lions appeared to be the same old laughable Lions this season.

Dan Campbell’s team has regrouped and won seven of its last nine games, putting it in position to make the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

The offense has been led by quarterback Jarod Goff’s resurgence, a two-headed monster at running back, and a near-no-name receiving corps that has ripped up the league.

Last Sunday, the Lions completed their home schedule with a 41-10 victory over the Bears. Goff threw three touchdown passes, two to unheralded tight end Brock Wright.

At running back, Jamaal Williams and D’Andre Swift were dominant, with Williams rushing for 144 yards and a touchdown and Swift adding 78 yards and a score. Amon-Ra St. Brown led the receiving group with four catches for 62 yards.
