NBA Rumors: The Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat could be the only teams that could buy out Kevin Love

Kevin Love’s departure from the Cleveland Cavaliers was inevitable once his role on the team diminished and his playing time decreased.

Only two clubs may be in the running to sign Kevin Love

When Cleveland was unable to trade for Love before the deadline, he agreed to a buyout, clearing the way for him to sign with any team for the rest of the regular season and playoffs.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reports that Love is drawing interest from the Phoenix Suns. And the Miami Heat have been mentioned as a team that would be a good fit for the former all-star and have shown interest in him before the Suns.

Love is well past his prime, but he can still contribute for a team in need of frontcourt depth and a shooter to keep the opposition honest from deep.

During his time with the Cavaliers this season, Love shot 35% from deep and averaged 9 ppg and 7 rpg. This season, he played an average of 20 minutes per game in 41 appearances for Cleveland.

It’s obvious where Love should go to sign if he wants to win a championship. If Love is seriously considering the Suns, then that is the destination that will give him the best shot at winning a championship. Despite the fact that it won’t give him the best shot at regular playing time.

The Heat might be the better choice, though, if Love wants to play a larger role for the rest of the season. Because of the Heat’s problems at power forward this year, Love could very well start for them.

The outcome of Love’s decision will be fascinating to watch, and it could come down to the Heat and the Suns.
