It’s safe to assume they’re pleased to have the World Series champion here.

The Padres fully jumped in an effort to dispel the notion that they are a small-market team, and their players are eager for what lies ahead.

Late Wednesday night, Xander Bogaerts and San Diego reached an agreement on an 11-year, $280 million contract. The two-time World Series champion will join a team that also features Manny Machado, Fernando Tatis Jr., Juan Soto and Juan Soto.

The agreement was reached after it was claimed that the Padres lost out to the Philadelphia Phillies for Trea Turner. San Diego aspires to have enough talent to not only compete in the National League West, but also bring home the franchise’s first World Series title.

In response to the rumored trade, Bogaerts’ now-former Red Sox teammates praised the 30-year-old for what he contributed to Boston.

Soto and pitcher Joe Musgrove both posted straightforward responses to the Padres on their respective Instagram stories.

The All-Star right-hander responded with a smiley face devil emoji while the All-Star outfielder added dancing animations to his story to show his excitement.

As San Diego appears to be continuing its efforts to round out its roster, Padres supporters are right there with Soto and Musgrove. The Red Sox, who still have Carlos Correa and Dansby Swanson available, will have different plans for shortstop.

However, San Diego is currently relishing what it hopes will be a new era for the team.
