Kings - Mavericks Injury Update: Will Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic PARTICIPATING on Friday?

In Sacramento, California, at the Golden 1 Center, the Dallas Mavericks will take on the Sacramento Kings. This marks the debut of a two-group competition.

The latest injury report for Sacramento Kings and Dallas Mavericks

  • The Kings

The Kings are content with the same core that has led them to the top of the Pacific Division at the midpoint of the season, whereas the Mavericks felt compelled to make a splashy move in pursuit of a playoff spot (Fox and Domantas Sabonis).

No injuries were reported.

  • The Mavericks

On Friday, Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks will pay a visit to De’Aaron Fox and the Sacramento Kings, giving Northern California basketball fans a chance to witness the beginning of a potential exciting rivalry.

Irving played in his first game for the Mavericks and contributed 24 points as Dallas beat the Los Angeles Clippers 110-104 on the road.

In Irving’s first game with the Mavericks, he was not limited in his minutes and he looked very at home in the role of primary playmaker from the Mavericks’ backcourt.

Dallas has won two games in a row since losing Luka Doncic last week to a bruised right heel, including today’s victory.

He was in attendance for the team’s trip to Los Angeles, but he did not play, and his status for Sunday’s doubleheader in Sacramento is uncertain.

  • Is there a chance that Luka Doncic might play tonight?

Doncic (heel) is doubtful for Friday’s matchup with the Kings, per Marc J. Spears of ESPN.com.

Doncic has missed the last three games due to a right heel contusion, but coach Jason Kidd is optimistic that he will be able to return on Friday or Saturday.

Due to the back-to-back nature of this weekend’s games, Doncic will miss at least one of them, but he seems to be close to returning.

While Kidd did not elaborate on the nature of the point guard’s injury, it appears that Doncic is making progress after missing his third straight game with an injury.

On Friday, Jaden Hardy would get even more playing time than usual if Doncic didn’t play.

It has been stated by Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd that Bertans (calf) will “probably” be out until the All-Star break.

Injury Reports: Luka Doncic (Heel), Davis Bertans (Calf) and Maxi Kleber (Hamstring).
