The Spurs travel to New York on Thursday. They have been playing better of late, going 5-5 in its last ten games. The Spurs went on an eleven-game losing streak last month, all against Western Conference opponents.
In this game, the Spurs’ injured players include Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell, and Doug McDermott.
Doug McDermott (knee) is questionable for Thursday’s game versus the Knicks, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.
McDermott is questionable to miss his second straight game due to right knee soreness. If he’s unable to suit up Thursday, his next chance to play is Saturday’s matchup with the Dallas Mavericks.
Earlier this month, the Knicks went on an eight-game winning streak. During that time, they won several games against playoff-caliber teams, including Cleveland and Golden State. The Knicks have struggled recently, with the most recent loss being the most difficult to swallow.
According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, R.J. Barrett (finger) will be out for “a week or so” against the Spurs on Thursday.
Barrett suffered a right index finger laceration early in the Mavericks’ 126-121 overtime loss on Tuesday, forcing him to miss the final three quarters as well as the extra period. While no official return date has been set, the laceration he sustained appears to be serious enough to keep him out for at least the next three games for the Knicks.
Barrett could play against the Spurs on January 4 or the Raptors on January 6 if he is able to return to the court in a week.
