James is in his 20th NBA season, and his fifth with the Lakers.

He led them to the NBA Championship in 2020, but they missed the playoffs in two of his four seasons there.

The Los Angeles Lakers have had a difficult start to the NBA 2022-23 season, losing five consecutive games and sitting at the bottom of the Western Conference.

Furthermore, a potential game-ending injury to their superstar Anthony Davis puts them under even more pressure to win their first game.

Russell Westbrook was a notable absentee against the Denver Nuggets cause of left hamstring soreness, but he returned to the lineup against the Minnesota Timberwolves as their Sixth man.

The lack of shooting only highlights the big man’s absence when they face the Nuggets, and the news isn’t looking for good heading into the game against a team that defeated them 110-99 three days ago.

On the Lakers’ official injury report, Davis is listed as questionable, along with Toscano-Anderson, who has a left ankle strain.

Despite being listed as probable, James is almost certain to play, while Westbrook, as he did against Minnesota, is expected to come off the bench and lead the second unit.

Dennis Schroder and Thomas Bryant have thumb injuries and will be out for at least two weeks. Cole Swider is also out with a foot injury and is on the injured list.

Los Angeles will attempt to generate some offense in the non-James minutes, which have been their Achilles’ heel this season.

With the game questioning their offense, Austin Reaves, Kendrick Nunn, and Patrick Beverley will look to make a difference and assist James when they face the Nuggets.

Denver enters Arena riding a four-game winning streak. After losing to the Portland Trail Blazers last week, they quickly bounced back with wins over the Los Angeles Lakers and the Utah Jazz.
