The Hornets improved to 3-3 with an overtime win over the Golden State Warriors at home on Saturday night, while the Kings fell to 1-4 with their first win of the season against the Miami Heat.
The Charlotte Hornets have been without their primary point guard for six games, but their 3-3 record suggests that LaMelo Ball’s move back to the lineup can do amazing things for them.
Not only him, but also the team’s leading scorer, Terry Rozier, has been in and out of the lineup, raising the stakes for Michael Jordan’s team.
However, the return of the duo to the starting lineup tonight will worry Charlotte fans because they can’t keep winning like that without two of their best players. Is LaMelo going to play today?
LaMelo Ball will not face the Sacramento Kings
Listen to this: without the duo point guards led by Gordon Hayward, P.J Washington, and Kelly Oubre Jr., the Hornets defeated the defending NBA champions 120-113.
This start cannot be coincidental, and the victory over the Dubs was no fluke. And, to take it seriously, head coach Steve Clifford must give this team a shot at the playoffs rather than tanking in order to get a better draft pick in 2022.
But tonight, he must devise a strategy to deal with Tyrese Haliburton and company. Based on their recent performances, Sacramento shouldn’t pose much of a challenge to them, and they should easily win this one.
This game could have been simpler if either Rozier or LaMelo had been able to come back. Nevertheless, the former Cs guard is listed as ‘probable,’ and LaMelo will not perform.
Kings vs. Hornets Monday night. Charlotte will be without LaMelo Ball (left ankle sprain), while Terry Rozier (right ankle sprain) & Cody Martin (sore left quad) are doubtful to play.

The Hornets were defeated by the Orlando Magic last Friday, following an overtime loss to the New York Knicks and with the Golden State Warriors visiting Charlotte the following night.
The Hornets’ game against the Kings tonight is yet another letdown after an overtime win over the Warriors on Saturday and a trip to Chicago to face the Bulls on Wednesday night.
However, with the lessons learned from last week’s thrashing by the Magic, expect Charlotte to come into this game with a renewed sense of focus as they tackle the task at hand.
