Injury Reports Pelicans - Spurs

The New Orleans Pelicans have abruptly cooled off, losing four consecutive games and falling out of first place in the Western Conference. The Pelicans’ four straight losses come after a seven-game winning streak. The Pelicans were defeated 128-119 by the Eastern Conference-leading Milwaukee Bucks on Monday night.

Zion Williamson is in the NBA’s health and safety protocols, and will not play against the Spurs on Thursday. According to Jim Eichenhofer of the Pelicans’ official website.

Williamson has been on a tear this month, averaging 28.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, but he will sit out a game or two to work through the league’s health and safety protocols.

While his next game is against the Thunder on Friday, a return against the Pacers on Monday appears to be more likely. Naji Marshall, Larry Nance (Achilles), and other forwards should see increased playing time in his absence.

According to Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com, coach Willie Green stated on Wednesday that Brandon Ingram (toe) will be out for at least two more games.

Green stated that Ingram’s recovery is going well, but that it is taking longer than expected. As a result, he will miss Friday’s game against the Spurs as well as Saturday’s game against the Thunder.

His next chance to play will be against the Pacers on Monday, but it’s unclear whether he’ll be ready by then.
