On Thursday night, the Los Angeles Lakers will take on the Indianapolis Pacers in Indiana. In the all-time regular season series between the teams, the Lakers own a 63-34 advantage.
Updates Injury Status for Anthony Davis and LeBron James
- How prepared is Anthony Davis for Thursday’s game?
According to Ryan Ward of LakersNation.com, Anthony Davis (foot) may play on Thursday against the Pacers.
After missing over a month of action due to a foot injury, Davis returned to action on Tuesday against the Knicks and started the game, finishing with 27 points, nine rebounds, two steals, and an assist in 37 minutes.
With only one rebound short, Davis would have had his 21st double-double of the year. This was only his third game back from a right foot fracture, but his first start since December 16.
Since the Lakers don’t have another set of back-to-back games until after the All-Star break, Davis should be able to return to the lineup in February if he continues to feel well. A match against the Nets on Monday was one he did not attend.
- “King James” – Doubt vs. Pacers
According to Ryan Ward of LakersNation.com, James’s status for Thursday’s game against Indiana is in doubt due to an ankle injury.
James sat out Monday’s game against Brooklyn with a sore left ankle but played Tuesday against the Knicks. The Lakers’ leading scorer put up 28 points (11-25 FG, 2-8 3P, 4-7 FT) while also contributing 10 rebounds, 11 assists, and a steal in 43 minutes of action.
In fact, since early November, James has not had a game with fewer than 20 points. In January, he played in 12 games and averaged 33 points, 9.3 boards, 8.4 assists, and 2.6 three-pointers.
Although he is still experiencing ankle pain, he played quite a bit on Tuesday, so it is unlikely that he will be hampered in any way if he is able to play on Thursday against the Pacers.

- So, Tyrese Haliburton, when do you plan on coming back?
Coach Rick Carlisle told Scott Agness of FieldhouseFiles.com on Wednesday that point guard Trent Haliburton is expected to play despite being listed as questionable for Thursday’s game against the Lakers.
Twice in a row, on Tuesday and Wednesday, Haliburton had complete practices. After missing 10 games with a bruised knee, he’s set to return to action on Thursday.
Although Carlisle has expressed doubt that Haliburton, a third-year guard, can handle a full workload (averaging 33.4 minutes per game), the Pacers are likely to clear him if they believe he can contribute when he does play.

Haliburton had a double-double in four of his last five games before he was injured on January 11. In those 34.6 minutes, he put up 17.4 points, 11 assists, 5.8 boards, and 2.4 steals.
