The Crypto.com Arena host the interconference matchup between the Knicks and the Lakers, and the New York Knicks were the visitors. There has already been one previous matchup between these squads this year. On January 31st, the Lakers won 129-123 in overtime.
Latest news on LeBron James, Anthony Davis and D’Angelo Russell
The Los Angeles Lakers beat the Toronto Raptors (122-112) on Friday to win their third consecutive game.
As a result, they are now 18-15 at home and in ninth place in the Western Conference after winning all three games by at least eight points. The Lakers are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games.
D’Angelo Russell (ankle) logged all 31 minutes, scoring 28 points (10-17 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT) and dishing out 9 assists, 5 boards, and 1 steal.
Although he had missed the Lakers’ previous six games with a sprained right ankle, Russell made a strong return in his first game action.
LeBron James’ (foot) recovery from surgery is still weeks away. The Lakers have been on a roll recently and are hoping to keep moving up the Western Conference standings with the help of Russell and Anthony Davis.
LeBron James has been diagnosed with a right foot tendon injury, as reported by Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet on Thursday. James will be re-evaluated in around two weeks.
James will skip surgery in favor of rest and rehabilitation, with the goal of making a return by the month’s end.
The team will likely rely more on reserves like Troy Brown, Lonnie Walker, and Rui Hachimura in James’ absence, while also getting more minutes out of Anthony Davis and D’Angelo Russell.
According to Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times, Anthony Davis is listed as probable for Sunday’s game against the Knicks despite suffering a right foot stress injury.
In the days leading up to Friday’s game against the Raptors, Davis, as is customary, was labeled as such.
Even though the star center missed Sunday’s game, he has appeared in four straight and 15 of the last 16 contests, so fans shouldn’t be too worried.
Davis will be motivated to get back on track on Sunday after scoring less than 10 points for the first time in a full game this season on Friday.
