Ball exited the game in the final two minutes after rolling his ankle when he accidentally stepped on the foot of a courtside fan as he attempted a steal.

Ball tweaked the same ankle that had kept him out for the first 13 games of the season after landing on the fan’s foot, and he began limping before heading to the locker room.

Per the Hornets, he has been diagnosed with a left ankle sprain.

Ball had his greatest match since back from injury, scoring 16 of his 26 points in the second half.

How long will LaMelo Ball be out?

Ball has only did play three games since experiencing a Grade 2 left ankle sprain in the preseason, and it’s unclear whether he’ll miss any more.

“Hopefully it’s not bad,” Hornets coach Steve Clifford said. “I’m sure we won’t really know anything until (Thursday).”
