Following the signing of Carlos Rodon by the New York Yankees, the only high-profile free agent who has yet to sign is Dansby Swanson.
According to a Cubs analyst, Dansby Swanson would enjoy playing in Chicago
The Chicago Cubs are said to be among the teams interested in the star shortstop. The Cubs have the resources to make a deal with the 28-year-old because they play in a big-market city.
One Cubs analyst made a compelling case on Twitter for why Swanson might enjoy playing at Wrigley Field.
This is a very convincing argument. Swanson could be the missing puzzle piece for the Cubs. The team has already signed right-hander Jameson Taillon to join Marcus Stroman in the starting rotation.
They also agreed to terms with outfielder Cody Bellinger on a one-year, $17.5 million contract.
Wrigley Field is a hitter-friendly ballpark, which could benefit Swanson greatly as he considers where to sign.
The Cubs’ lineup could use a little more punch, and the star shortstop could be the missing piece they need to return to contention for the first time since 2020.
