Latest news on LaMelo Ball and Malcolm Brogdon for this game

Celtics vs. Hornets injury updates

The Charlotte Hornets are near the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings because they have had so many injuries this season. Even though Charlotte just got LaMelo Ball back, the all-star guard hasn’t been able to help the Hornets win.

Ball’s been incredible productive and consistent since his return from an ankle injury in the middle of December. In 15 games, he has averaged 23.9 points, 8.9 assists, 5.7 rebounds, 4.4 threes, and 1.2 steals while scoring in double figures 14 times.

Key Injuries: F Kelly Oubre is out after undergoing hand surgery while F Gordon Hayward is likely out at least another week with a hamstring issue.

With five straight wins, the Boston Celtics have moved back to the top of the Eastern Conference standings. Thursday night’s 109-98 win over Brooklyn was yet another win in a row. Boston beat the Nets, who were playing their first game without star forward Kevin Durant, who has an MCL sprain and will be out for at least two weeks.

F Jaylen Brown should be out at least a week. F/C Al Horford will likely be ready to go on Saturday after sitting out Thursday’s game with back issues.

Because of personal obligations, Malcolm Brogdon‘s status for Saturday’s game against the Hornets has been upgraded to questionable.

Due to personal reasons, Brogdon may not be able to play in his team’s first game of the new year. Because of Jaylen Brown’s (groin) injury, the Celtics will not have him available for the game on Saturday, which could leave them vulnerable on the wing. In that scenario, Derrick White and Payton Pritchard would be in a position to take on larger responsibilities if they were promoted.
