Streaming himself seemingly brandishing a gun at a Colorado strip club, the Memphis Grizzlies’ starJa Morant could be in trouble with the NBA and the law.
Ja Morant’s suspension might be extended if he gets in legal trouble
“There are likely legal consequences because he is an out of state resident viewed in possession of a gun,” per ESPN’s Bobby Marks
The NBA may take action against Morant in addition to the two-game suspension handed down by the Grizzlies.
If Morant was armed in Denver, he must have brought the weapon with him on the team plane (unless he acquired it in Colorado).
The NBA has stringent rules against bringing firearms to team facilities or on team flights, so he’d be opening himself up to serious punishment if he did that.
The NBA has stated that they are looking into the matter.
The best that can be hoped for is that the league will be reluctant to ruin one of their brightest young stars with a lengthy suspension.
